What is the Sonoma County Republican Central Committee?

Sonoma County Republican Central Committee (SCRCC) or Sonoma County Republican Party (SCRP) is a group of elected individuals who are volunteering their time and efforts to find, promote and support Republican candidates for partisan and non-partisan offices.

These individuals were elected to the Central Committee by the Republican voters of Sonoma County in the June primary election and represent the 5 Supervisorial Districts in Sonoma County (see http://www.sonoma-county.org/board/district.htm).

23 are elected to the five Supervisorial Districts and 7 are ex-officios representing the seven partisan seats in the county.

What is the Relationship with the State and National Republican Parties?

  • We are financially independent from the Republican National Committee (RNC) and the California Republican Party (CRP).
  • And do not receive any money from the RNC.
  • We receive some legal, informational, financial (both direct and indirect) support from the CRP.
  • We have our own bylaws and standing rules, although we can take some guidance from the CRP.

What is the purpose of the Sonoma County Republican Party?

  • The Sonoma County Republican Party’s purpose is to search and find Republican candidates for all partisan and local non-partisan offices.
  • Its role is to also support the Republican candidates who volunteer to run for an elected office.
  • It is also our role to register Republican, which we do by having volunteers sit at registration booths around the county and at events such as The Sonoma County Fair and the Wednesday Night Market.
  • It is not the role of the SCRP to debate issues or set policy; it is to elect Republican Candidates to partisan and non-partisan offices.
  • We support our candidates by providing information pertinent to candidates (bumper stickers, signs, literature, etc.). We have volunteers put together bags containing information on candidates and issues and these bags are distributed personally to Republicans, street-by-street, block-by-block, house-by-house.
